New York artist Marthe Keller grew up on a farm in the Hudson River Valley and lived in Rome, Italy for her high-school years. She studied painting at Maryland Institute and Boston University and Temple Univ, Tyler in Rome. She studied Art Therapy at George Washington University. Keller is an adjunct professor in the Art Department at Hunter College, NY. She Directs the BAU Institute arts residency in Italy, www.bauinstitute.org and she Edits the AAA Journal www.americanabstractartists.org. Keller has been exhibiting internationally since 1974. Her paintings, collages and prints are represented in public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, British Museum, San Francisco MMA, and Philadelphia Museum of Art. Keller has received Grants, Awards and Residencies from institutions such as the NEA, NYFA, the MacDowell Colony, The Chicago Art Institute, Princeton University, Ohio State University, University of Connecticut, Virginia Commonwealth, and the Vermont Studio Center. My Life in the Wake, is Keller’s 2011 spring solo in two venues, a survey of intimately related paintings and assemblages made together over the last 7 years, showing at New Arts Program in Kutztown, PA and Northampton Community College in Bethleham, PA. |
